Antares is an equity fund seeking an attractive return to its shareholders through the sale and purchase of holdings in MFIs, and at the same time fulfilling important market development objectives.

There are currently a number of shareholders of MFIs that are having difficulties making their investments liquid. In many occasions this illiquidit has discouraged new private investors from capitalizing microfinance institutions (MFIs), since a quick and predictable exit cannot be assumed.

 
 
Antares Fund was conceived in early 2004 by Robert Patillo, founder of Gray Ghost Microfinance Fund.  Gray Ghost, as Antares EPF general partner and main investor, sees the fund as the primary instruments in its efforts to encourage a deeper and more liquid secondary market in MFI equity shares.
Omtrix Inc., an experienced manager of funds specialized in MFI’s equity, will assist Gray Ghost in this endeavor as Antares’ fund manager and sole additional founding investor.

Antares Equity Participation Fund “Antares” is a limited partnership established in Delaware, United States of America. The fund operates from San José, Costa Rica where its Fund Manager, Omtrix, is domiciled.
 
 
Antares expects that most of its investments would come from the secondary market, specifically purchases from stakeholders that are willing to sell all or part of their holdings.
 
 
Antares will acquire minority holdings in MFIs. As a passive investor, it will rely on the supervision and governance of like-minded investors.
